Compute thermowell natural frequencies and vortex-shedding (wake) frequencies, and assess resonance risk, stresses and pressure limits using the methods of PTC 19.3 TW-2016 (R2025). Keep inputs, studies and PDF reports together in your online projects.
Illustration of the design geometry, not to scale. The application provides the dimensioned drawing for each study.
When a configuration returns FAILED, WellFreq searches for variants that pass the numerical checks within the limits you define.
Minimum insertion length, maximum diameter and search increments: you control the constraints of your installation.
The engine recalculates each configuration. Flow velocity stays unchanged unless you explicitly allow a reduction.
Review the proposals in Technical Details. An arrow transfers your chosen variant into your inputs and runs the calculation again.

89 mmLength LIllustrative example from a test: L changes from 120 to 89 mm at 125 m/s. This result depends on the complete study inputs; it cannot be transferred to another installation.
Straight and tapered shanks. The search may find no solution within your chosen limits. Check insertion, nozzle clearance, manufacturing feasibility and material data validity before selecting a variant.

Enter fluid velocity directly or derive it from mass or actual volumetric flow and the pipe bore.
Inspect the dimensioned thermowell and the detailed calculation findings. Numerical PASS/FAILED and material approval are separate statuses.
Save calculation revisions in the right project. Final report availability depends on valid inputs and the material approval workflow.
Manage your thermowell projects directly in WellFreq, from your browser. Keep calculation files, revisions and PDF reports organised alongside the equipment they describe.

Process inputs, geometry, material properties and calculation checks in a single record. Report generated by the engine for worked example 8-1, with its five acceptance checks.
Worked example from Section 8-1, also available in Projects → Examples. Demonstration only: do not use this report for design or installation.
WellFreq is being developed around PTC 19.3 TW-2016 (R2025). Its purpose is to make the calculation workflow easier to review, from dimensions to the resulting checks.
Read the calculation workflow ↗A dimensioned drawing keeps the shank, bore, unsupported length and tip thickness visible.
The engine supports interpolation between tabulated temperature points. The commercial materials library is in preparation, subject to data rights and validation.
Calculation findings, material status and report availability remain distinct. A numerical pass alone does not approve a material.
Retrieve density and viscosity from stored temperature points, with the source and verification status visible. Current starter data are limited; each fluid must cover the operating conditions.
162 documented catalogue combinations: ASME B36.10, B36.19, EN 10255 and an Alleima ISO/EN range. The inside diameter is derived from outside diameter and wall thickness.
Manage repeat calculations across customer projects.
Prepare and review thermowell designs with clear input records.
Keep process conditions and equipment tags in one working context.
Industrial experience, brought to the calculation.
WellFreq was created by a team of physicists specialising in fluid dynamics, with extensive industrial experience in both laboratories and plants. The team includes a graduate of the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics in Rhode-Saint-Genèse, Belgium.
That experience shapes the tool: start with actual process conditions, examine geometric constraints and retain calculations that can be reviewed and checked.
The engine applies the equations and criteria of PTC 19.3 TW-2016 (R2025) within its supported scope. Detailed results refer to the relevant paragraphs, while applicability limits and material status remain visible.
The Verification tab provides checks of the engine against the examples in Section 8, including calculated values and deviations from the references. You can inspect the verification results directly.
These checks document engine behaviour; they are not ASME certification. The relevance of a study also depends on its input data and their validation.

One study is one thermowell identified within a project. Automatic recalculations, design variants and report reissues are included. A new tag or a duplicated study is a separate study.
Budget illustration, not a monthly commitment. After your confirmation, one prepaid credit unlocks one study, including its calculations, variants and reports.
Not yet. The software is under preparation for commercial launch. Material data rights, validation and the production service must be finalised before paid access opens.
No. PASS describes the implemented numerical checks for the supplied inputs. It does not constitute ASME certification, approval by a client or approval of an installation.
The application can derive mean pipe velocity from mass flow and density, or from actual volumetric flow, using the inside diameter. Standard or normal gas volumes require conversion to service conditions first.
The engine already supports interpolation of E(T) and S(T) between available tabulated temperatures, without extrapolation. The licensed and validated commercial data library is still in preparation.
WellFreq is being developed by R&P Consulting as an independent workspace. Supported geometries, calculation scope and the applicable material data still need to be checked for each design.
Access to the calculator, data entry and saved drafts are available with an account. After your confirmation, one credit unlocks a thermowell study before calculation. Its recalculations, variants and reports are included, including iterations from FAILED to PASS. A new thermowell study requires another credit. An active Unlimited subscription covers calculations without consuming credits.
There is no monthly quota to set or change. For example, 25 new studies unlocked with credits consume 25 credits; 8 the following month consume 8. Unused credits remain in your account without expiry or a monthly reset.
You retain access to the calculator, drafts and saved files. Studies already unlocked with a credit remain available for recalculation. A new study requires a credit or an active Unlimited subscription. After a subscription expires, its saved studies remain readable; recalculation requires a credit or a renewed subscription. There is no automatic top-up, overage charge or plan switch.
Unlimited annual costs €4,309.20 excluding tax, paid upfront for 12 months. This is 10% off twelve €399 monthly payments: a €478.80 yearly saving, equivalent to €359.10 per month. Renews annually; cancel before the next renewal to stop subsequent billing. Access continues until the end of the paid period.
Yes. On the monthly plan, Unlimited renews monthly at €399 excluding tax. Cancel before the next renewal to stop subsequent billing; access continues until the end of the paid period. Your unused credits are preserved while subscribed and remain available afterwards.
